a recommendation....your editing, it switches from one (small) scene to another too quickly, like each "scene" is<=3 seconds, it is hard for viewers (at least me) to emotionally engaged with you because of lack of continuity. remember you are not just selling the restuarants, the cities or countries, you are also "selling" yourself too. i know a more condensed video can show more useful information. but it is boring. we want to see how you guys joke with each other, not just full of "useful information" one. eg the perking duck restuarant, you waited for 2hrs, and it is meant to be good food. but viewers only get a 15second condensed view of it......

My Irish friend visited China, had no knowledge of the language but had a spiffing good time. He said he relied on the kindness of strangers to get around...even with language barrier LOL. Super reasonable metro price, so he went everywhere in Chengdu 😄

Yes, you are right what you see is the external part of China. Because people will never tell you what's really going on. I lived in Beijing and have been to many places in China. I wish you'll never encounter an imaginable experience just like I had. Just don't dig too deep around, and you'll be fine.

Joel, I'll advise you to also talk more on the bad things. Dhigurah doesn't really have that much of what you would call a beach. It's non existent almost with the water touching the forest. And as a rule of thumb if you go to a island where the locals live, it will be trashier compared to private resorts because of you guessed it, locals

Great video. Another thing people should be aware of is that in Vietnam sometimes money exchanges at the Gold/Jewelry shops are cheaper than general Money Exchange places. For US viewers if they get a Fidelity Cash Management Account or a Schwab one they will reimburse any ATM fees you incurr abroad so you don't have to shop for the best ATM fee rates, but thanks for the tip on your Agribank. Also people who use debit cards to get cash out, should check with their bank to make sure they don't tack on an additional foreign transaction fee (1% usually) before they go. If so, it may make more sense to get money/travellers checks before you go and do the money exchange route. Fidelity and Schwab don't charge foreign exchange fees. You're right as well on liking Northern Vietnam better than Southern. I find the north has been less adulterated by modernization and has pockets of natural beauty like your Ha Giang Loop. It's special to see places I've spent most of my childhood through camera. I immediately knew which Hutong you walked by off the subway. Funny that I've never visited Tiananmen Square and Temple of Heaven myself lol. Yeah the queue or line for restaurants are crazy nowadays I just don't get it. If you guys are able to plan ahead and avoid peak times (weekday dinner and pretty much all day Saturday) there's wouldn't be such a long waiting time. The smoky air is a problem, part of it because the city is surrounded by mountains in the west and north and pollution is hard to spread out. I've seen the air quality has been improving significantly over the years but still a long way to go. Best of luck and have fun in China!
